OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS

Akshaya Patra Millions of underprivileged children in India are out of school and forced into child labor in order to earn a single meal in a day. The surest way to break out of the cycle of poverty is through education. Akshaya Patra, the world's largest NGO- run mid-day meal program, serves fresh, nutritious meals daily to over 1.3 million children in rural India. For many children this is the only complete meal of the day. The school lunch program creates an incentive for children to go to school and stay in school so they may thrive as adults. Surya makes direct financial contributions to Akshaya Patra and promotes awareness and community support through annual fundraising campaigns.
 
City of Hope Since 1913, City of Hope has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people with cancer, diabetes and other serious illnesses. With the mission of transforming the future of health care by turning science into a practical benefit and hope into reality, City of Hope is one of only 45 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, as designated by the National Cancer Institute. Its community of research associates, scientists, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, graduate students, fundraising specialists, marketing professionals, volunteers and an extensive support staff are united by their desire to find cures, save lives and transform the future of health. Surya is proud to be a financial contributor to City of Hope’s continued cancer and diabetes research.
 
March of Dimes Originally created by President Franklin Roosevelt as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, the March of Dimes has a focus of preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality by discovering the genetic causes of birth defects, promoting newborn screening, and educating medical professionals and the public about best practices for healthy pregnancy. The Surya team is glad to be active donators to the March of Dimes organization and participants in the annual March for Babies walks in both Cartersville, Ga. and Atlanta, Ga.
 
 
Project Mala Project Mala's mission is to eradicate child labor from the carpet industry in India by providing children in remote villages with access to quality education, nutritious meals and ongoing healthcare. The organization operates six primary schools, three middle schools and one secondary school, serving more than 1,500 children in the Mirzapur-Bhadhoi region in the state of Uttar Pradesh - a hub for carpetweaving in India and home to many Surya weavers. Surya makes direct financial contributions to Project Mala and supports 160 students in four classes at two schools. Funds are allocated towards education, uniforms, food and medical care, along with sports and cultural training.
 
Sewa Sewa International is a Hindu faith-based, humanitarian, nonprofit service organization founded in 2003 as part of a larger movement that started in India in 1989 and is active in twenty countries. Sewa serves humanity irrespective of race, color, religion, gender or nationality specializing in disaster relief and rehabilitation. Development programs focus on family services; child, tribal and refugee welfare; women empowerment; health; and education. In addition to their work in the US, they have undertaken development projects in Colombia, Guyana, India, Kenya, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The organization is committed to supporting the healthcare and medical infrastructure in India during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Surya has partnered with Sewa International to help obtain medical equipment and distribute supplies to hospitals, institutions, and individuals battling the devastating second wave of COVID-19 in India.
 
Yuvaan Tiwari Foundation The Yuvaan Tiwari Foundation was established in 2021 by Parvati and Satya Tiwari to honor the legacy of their son Yuvaan (Yuvi). At age two, Yuvi was diagnosed with a rare and fatal brain tumor called diffuse midline glioma (DMG), which he bravely fought for seven months. The foundation is built on love, hope and an unwavering determination to find a cure for DMG, DIPG and other deadly pediatric brain tumors. The Yuvaan Tiwari Foundation raises awareness of the devastating impact of pediatric brain cancer, funds research to find a cure, and supports patients and families along their journey.
